Labor Support

A doula is a trained and experienced person that accompanies women in labor and throughout childbirth. A doula is not a medical professional, but rather provides continuous care, emotional support, calm reassurance, encouragement, hands-on comfort measures, knowledge, and guidance throughout the process. As a doula, I non-judgmentally support the laboring woman from start to finish. All births are unique and different, and they often take unexpected turns. Part of my job is to assist you and your partner as you seek to understand the process of childbirth and provide information when it’s needed and/or wanted. I seek to be a valuable member of your birth team, which means I make every effort to work well with your partner, provider, nurses, and whoever else you choose to accompany you throughout this experience. My commitment to you and your partner as a professional doula is to invest my time and energy into helping you throughout your pregnancy to prepare you for your labor, delivery and postpartum period with your new baby. Upon hiring me, you will receive continual support via phone, text, or email, as well as receive three visits to your home. The first two take place before your baby is born. One will cover all the details of your birth plan. I walk you through all of the options available in your place of birth so that you have the knowledge you need to make informed decisions. The second covers everything you can expect postpartum (physically and
emotionally) as you prepare to make the transition into parenthood, or, if you already have children, to help you have a plan for that as well. After your baby is born, I come to your home one last time to check in and see how you all are doing and adjusting. I can answer any questions you have, provide resources and assist in any other ways you need.
Parents shouldn’t have to navigate these things alone, and I make certain you don’t have to.
